Other Analytical Tools
In every research environment, it's vital for engineers to quantify performance. Accurate measurements and analysis provide the data needed to improve operation. The research and development engineers at John Zink Company use advanced tools and instrumentation, such as thermodynamic equilibrium, kinetic and plume opacity models to meet industry demands.
Zink uses the CET-89 combustion code to calculate thermodynamic equilibrium.
This calculation provides the adiabatic flame temperature, which
is used to predict the maximum flame temperature.
With a performance goal in mind, our engineers conduct kinetic analysis using the Chemkin code to help predict real-life operation. Plume opacity models are also used to predict and control plume thickness.
