HISPANIC CHAMBER ANNOUNCES 2003 HONOREES
The Greater Tulsa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announced yesterday its honorees for the Third Annual "Excelencia Awards" Banquet. This year's recipients will be honored at the Chamber's "Excelencia Awards" to be held March 27, 2003 at the Adams Mark Hotel.
Each year the Chamber selects three business and community leaders who have dedicated their time and efforts toward the development of the Hispanic business community in the greater Tulsa area. "We're thankful for what these individuals and companies have done to support the Hispanic Community and we're honored to recognize them" said Mr. Xavier Neira, current Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The John Zink Company was named CORPORATE PARTNER OF THE YEAR and will be receiving this year's ADELANTE AWARD. Mr. Bill Hermann, Managing Director, Latin American Region will accept the award on behalf of John Zink. "John Zink is pleased to accept this award and recognizes the value that the Hispanic community adds to Tulsa's growth and continued well being," said Dr. Roberto Ruiz, past chairperson of the Hispanic Chamber board of directors.
The BENDAñA AMIGO AWARD, in honor of the late Fredrick Bendaña, who was the former CEO of Tulsa's Ben-Trei, Ltd, will be given to the Tulsa City-County Library System for The Hispanic Resource Center. Ms. Linda Saferite, Executive Director of the Tulsa City-County Library System will receive the award on behalf of the Hispanic Resource Center. Their endless dedication to community development, especially in the Hispanic community, has recognized them as COMMUNITY LEADER OF THE YEAR.
Luis Tineo, owner of The Fountains Restaurant will be receiving the AVANCE AWARD for HISPANIC BUSINESS OF THE YEAR. The Fountains Restaurant has hosted several community and social events benefiting the local economy as well as the Hispanic community and continues to be a role model and a link towards enhancing opportunities for Hispanic business owners. Luis Tineo is also a former Hispanic Chamber board member.
The Greater Tulsa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1999 with its primary mission to advocate, develop and advance Hispanic business interests in the Tulsa Metro area and throughout the State of Oklahoma.
