John Zink Company Helps
Iowa State University Researchers Win
R&D 100 Award
TULSA,
Okla.,
Feb. 14, 2007
John Zink Company's participation in developing texture-based engineering tools
(TBET) software with Iowa
State
University's virtual engineering research group has
helped ISU's researchers earn a prestigious R&D 100 Award.
TBET are virtual engineering tools that can be utilized to
improve combustion systems designs.
John Zink's engineers helped improve programming logic and efficiency with ISU's
TBET and recommended additional features for the software.
The R&D 100 Awards recognize the top 100 best
research programs in the
United States, said
Dr. Roberto Ruiz, vice president of technology and commercial
development at John Zink.
John Zink's participation in Iowa
State
University's virtual engineering research is part of
our ongoing collaboration with leading universities to develop enhanced
knowledge in combustion science.
These efforts complement the company's strong commitment to combustion research
and development which includes our state-of-the-art Research, Development and Test Center,
the most comprehensive facility of its kind in the world.
TBET are critical to helping John Zink's engineers gain
unparalleled insights into the computational fluid dynamics models of combustion
systems. John Zink uses TBET to
evaluate combustion equipment performance in a variety of industrial
applications, and to provide customers with a better understanding of the
physics and engineering principles involved in developing advanced combustion
technologies.
The R&D 100 Awards are presented annually by
R&D magazine.
For 44 years, the R&D 100 Awards have helped companies provide the
important initial push new products need to compete successfully in the
marketplace. Earning an R&D 100 Award provides a mark of excellence known to
industry, government, and academia as proof that the product is one of the most
innovative ideas of the year.
