Flare Systems

Pressure Assisted Flare

John Zink’s pressure-assisted flares are engineered to deliver the highest smokeless capacities and the lowest radiation levels among pressure-assisted flare designs.  The Kaldair® Indair and Kaldair® Multipoint Indair™ (KMI™)  flare systems stand out for their ability to operate smokeless at almost all waste gas flow rates without the need for assist steam or air. All John Zink’s pressure-assisted tips (Indair, KMI, Hydra, Poseidon, KSP) use proprietary high-pressure burner technology to produce stable and smokeless combustion with a high destruction efficiency.  These flare tips produce stiff, low emissivity flames that minimize thermal radiation resulting in lower boom lengths and stack heights.

Overview

Maximizing Smokeless Capacity, Minimizing Radiation

John Zink's pressure-assisted flares are engineered to deliver the highest smokeless capacities and the lowest radiation levels among pressure-assisted flare designs. The Kaldair® Indair, JZ Hydra, Kaldair Multipoint Indair (KMI), and JZ Poseidon flare systems stand out for their ability to operate smokelessly at almost all waste gas flow rates without the need for supplemental steam or air energy. This is achieved through the use of John Zink's proprietary high-pressure burner technology, which ensures an extremely stable ignition flame and clean combustion, resulting in reduced radiation and the possibility of using shorter stack heights or boom lengths.

John Zink's pressure-assisted flares have been successfully used in a wide range of applications for over 30 years, offering a reliable and efficient solution for smokeless, low radiation flare design without the need for external assist media. These systems are customizable and have been used in various configurations to meet specific client needs, ensuring excellence in overall system performance.

Features

  • High Smokeless Capacity: Uses the pressure inherent in the waste stream to rapidly mix ambient air and effect smokeless combustion.

  • Low Radiation: Stiff, low emissivity flame minimizes thermal radiation at grade.

  • Long Tip Life: These systems are designed for durability, ensuring a long operational life for the flare tips.

  • Unlimited Turndown: Some of the systems can offer unlimited turndown, making them highly adaptable to varying operational conditions.

  • No Assist Medium Required: These flares produce short, smokeless flames without the need for an assist medium, allowing for shorter boom lengths and simpler mounting structures.

  • Variable Slot Coanda Flare Tip: Custom designed to enable smokeless flaring of flare gas, utilizing the Coanda effect for efficient operation.

Benefits

  • Cost-Effective Operation: By eliminating the need for an assist medium and reducing radiation, these systems lower operational costs and reduce capital expenses through shorter stack or boom lengths and smaller header sizes.

  • Environmental Compliance: The high smokeless capacities ensure compliance with environmental regulations, reducing the impact of flaring on the environment.

  • Stable Combustion: Ensures high destruction efficiency.

  • Enhanced Safety: Low radiation and quiet operation contribute to a safer working environment.

  • Operational Flexibility: Unlimited turndown and the ability to handle a wide range of operational conditions provide significant flexibility in plant operations.

  • Reduced Maintenance: The durable design and long tip life reduce the frequency and cost of maintenance.

  • Simplified Installation: The absence of an assist medium and the use of shorter boom lengths simplify the installation process, reducing setup time and costs.
