When did you join John Zink? What initially attracted you to John Zink?
I joined John Zink in 2021. I previously worked in the oilfield and one of my oilfield friends had recently been hired at John Zink. I didn’t know anything about JZ at the time so I went to the website to learn more. It was there I learned about the Principled Based Management values, and I knew I wanted to be part of an organization with these principles as their foundation.
Can you describe your role at John Zink and your typical day?
I am a regional account specialist with our boiler burner aftermarket group. No two days are alike in this job and being able to switch gears on the fly is vital. A day likely will include communicating with customers regarding their needs, reviewing drawings and material lists to identify parts, providing quotes, collaborating with internal teams for potential on growing scope, and processing purchase orders.
How does being part of the Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) and Koch Industries (KII) network at John Zink enhance your career path and support your ongoing professional development?
Being part of the Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) and Koch Industries (KII) network at John Zink opens doors far beyond the typical combustion and sales roles. The vast reach across diverse industries really makes it feel like there’s no limit to the paths you can explore.
On top of that, the environment here encourages continuous learning and growth. Each day, we’re encouraged to ask questions and engage with others, which keeps my development steady and rewarding.
What’s the culture like at John Zink?
The culture here is like nothing I’ve experienced before—truly collaborative and supportive. I’ve felt that the company is genuinely invested in my growth. For example, within my first year, a leadership program opened up. When I mentioned it to my manager, she immediately encouraged me to apply and connected me with people who could help. It was such a clear sign of the support and encouragement we have here.
Reflecting on your time at John Zink, what makes you most proud to be part of this team?
In my nearly four years here, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredibly talented people. I’m proud every day of how we collaborate as a team to tackle challenges and consistently go beyond our customers' expectations. It’s that spirit of collaboration and commitment that stands out the most for me.
Looking ahead, what excites you most about the future direction of John Zink? How do you see your role evolving?
The changing regulations within the industries we serve will allow John Zink to be at the forefront of innovations. I look at my job as an opportunity to engage the customer to find out how we can best partner with them to help them meet their challenges.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career at John Zink? What should they expect and prepare for?
If it interests you, apply and never look back. I was lucky enough to join this amazing team and I have enjoyed coming to work every day since.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Back to Europe. Germany specifically. You are surrounded by so much history and the two weeks I spent there was not enough time to even scratch the surface.
